De Kitzsteinhorn ligt op ongeveer 15 minuten afstand van paleis Saalhof. Sneeuwzeker skiën is hier het hele jaar mogelijk (behalve in augustus).

Skiërs en snowboarders beleven op de Kitzsteinhorn pure vrijheid. Fantastische pistes met verschillende moeilijkheidsgraden laten de harten van sneeuwfreaks sneller kloppen en bieden voor elk wat wils: op het gletsjerplateau vinden ski-beginners een ideaal oefenterrein, professionals en iedereen die dat wil worden kan zijn vaardigheden op de vaste racebaan of op de buckelpiste of in uitdagende skiroutes tot het uiterste.

Skiwinter in Zell am See – Kaprun
De skipas Zell am See-Kaprun is de sleutel tot 53 kabelbanen en liften en 138 kilometer aan pistes in Kaprun en Zell am See.

Naast het gletsjerskigebied Kitzsteinhorn zijn er de familieskigebieden Maiskogel en Lechnerberg in Kaprun en de Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See. De skibusdienst in en tussen de steden is gratis.
