Frequently Asked Questions About the Apartments in the Schloss

Historic Living with Modern Comforts at Schloss Saalhof

Right inside the Schloss, you’ll find lovingly designed apartments that combine historic charm with modern comforts. These include, among others, the Zirbenstube, the Ritterzimmer, the Prinzenturm, the Fürstenturm, the Märchenturm, the Turmzimmer, and the entire tower floor. The tower floor consists of the Prinzenturm, Märchenturm, and Fürstenturm castle suites. Each apartment has its own character, ranging from cozy and rustic to spacious and especially family-friendly.

Yes, there is an elevator in the Schloss.

No, our guests enjoy a perfect indoor climate even in the height of summer, without any energy-guzzling air conditioners. The secret lies in the historic and natural construction of the Schloss and the Moarhaus. The massive, meter-thick stone walls act as a gigantic natural cold storage system. The walls absorb the cool temperatures of the night and release them very slowly during the day. Even when it’s hot outside, the heat stays outside. We recommend keeping the windows closed. This effect is particularly noticeable in the Zirbenstube Castle Suite, where the Swiss stone pine—known as the “queen of the Alps”—creates a special indoor atmosphere, regulates humidity, and exudes a soothing fragrance.
