Visit our floodlit night trail in Maishofen!

Crunching snow and visible breath, traces that run through the winter idyll: In the glittering natural spectacle of the region you completely forget that cross-country skiing is actually at home in the Nordic plateaus. As far as the eye can see, the cross-country trails wind their way through Zell am See and Kaprun to the neighboring regions over a distance of around 200 kilometers. The illuminated night trail near the Schloss can be used daily free of charge. In case of insufficient snow, the artificially snowed cross-country ski trail in Saalfelden am Ritzensee (15 minutes away by car) can be visited.
Even those who don’t like sports get weak at the sight of the majestic mountains. Do you also want to try it, but don’t have any equipment? The local cross-country ski rental only rents you top-quality equipment. Of course, tips on choosing or caring for your equipment are not to be sneezed at either. Don’t forget: Those who only pick up their skis at our Bigtime ski rental on site save a lot of luggage space during arrival and departure. Please reserve in advance if possible.
Cross-country skiing trains strength and endurance. You will also get to know the beauty of the region at the same time. Because many cross-country trails lead you along the most impressive places in Zell am See-Kaprun. To ensure that the long excursions are not too strenuous, you can learn the correct technique in the local cross-country skiing schools – whether it’s a ‘half-circle step’ or a ‘double pole push’.
